Durbar Rajshahi defeated Dhaka Capitals by seven wickets in a match held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday. Taskin Ahmed made the biggest contribution to Rajshahi’s victory, taking an incredible seven wickets. This is the best bowling figure in the history of BPL.
Dhaka’s batters were helpless in front of Taskin’s fast bowling. He took seven wickets for just 19 runs. Taskin’s record broke Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir’s record of 17 for 6, which he achieved in 2020. Taskin’s bowling is now the best in BPL history and the third-best in recognized T20 cricket.
Batting first, Dhaka Capitals were bundled out for 174 in 20 overs. Taskin broke Dhaka’s batting lineup by dismissing Liton Das and Tanjid Hasan early on. Then, returning in the death overs, he took three wickets, including three wickets for two runs in his last over. He came very close to a hat-trick.
For Dhaka, Shahadat Hossain made 50 runs and Stephen Eskinazi made 46 runs. But they failed to score big scores due to Taskin’s dominance.
In reply, Rajshahi faced some trouble at the beginning. Mohammad Haris had to be caught by Mushfiqur Rahim in the first over. Then Zeeshan Alam was out for a duck. Yasir Ali Rabbi, who had scored 94 runs in the previous match, got out at a crucial time after a good start.
But captain Enamul Haque Bijoy and Ryan Burl batted brilliantly to lead the team to victory. Bijoy remained unbeaten on 73 runs off 46 balls, while Burl scored 55 runs off 33 balls. The pair built an unbeaten partnership of 106 runs, which brought the match in Rajshahi’s favor.
Dhaka’s bowlers failed to stop Rajshahi’s batting. Mustafizur Rahman and Alauddin Babu took one wicket each, but it was not enough.
Rajshahi’s win marked Dhaka’s second consecutive defeat in the BPL. Taskin’s incredible bowling and responsible batting were the main reasons for Rajshahi’s victory.
