Redmi is bringing a new budget-friendly 5G phone to India, set to launch on March 27. The name of this phone is Redmi 15, and although it’s designed as a budget phone, its specifications are quite impressive. The phone comes with a large 6300mAh battery, offering extended battery life to get you through the day with ease. Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G processor, the phone promises solid performance, even for light gaming, although it’s not specifically geared towards gaming enthusiasts.
The Redmi 15 will be available in three attractive color variants—Black, Blue, and Pink. The Pink variant is particularly eye-catching with a textured pattern on the back that gives it a distinctive look. The rear of the phone features a rectangular camera island, which includes the primary camera and an LED flashlight.
On the right side of the phone, you’ll find the volume buttons and the power button. The bottom of the phone houses a Type-C charging port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and the speaker grill. The frame is made of polycarbonate plastic, making the phone both stylish and durable.
The phone features a 6.9-inch HD+ IPS LCD display, with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 810 nits. While the display size is large, the design could be slightly more refined to offer a better visual experience.
The camera system includes a 32MP primary camera and a 2MP depth sensor to help capture sharp and clear images. The front camera is 8MP, and the phone supports Full HD video recording. We’ll have to wait for more detailed reviews to understand how the camera performs in various conditions.
For battery and charging, the Redmi 15 includes a 6300mAh battery, paired with a 15W charger in the box. Additionally, the phone offers reverse wired charging at 7.5W, a feature that lets you charge other devices using the phone’s battery. The phone runs on Android 13 with MIUI (or the latest version of MIUI available at the time).
The MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset is designed for budget and mid-range phones, offering good performance for everyday tasks and moderate gaming. The phone will come with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, or 4GB RAM and 128GB storage, with UFS 2.2 storage, providing faster read and write speeds.
The expected price of the Redmi 15 is around Rs 10,000 or slightly higher, making it an attractive option in the budget 5G segment. The phone is also expected to be available in Bangladesh shortly after the Indian release. If you are planning to buy it, you might want to wait until it’s officially available in the market.
