Nasir Hossain returns to the field after suspension, succeeds with the ball in DPL

Former Bangladesh national team all-rounder Nasir Hossain has finally returned to the field after a long ban. He was banned from all forms of cricket for two years due to breaching the ICC anti-corruption code. He was finally officially allowed to play cricket again from April 7. Nasir took to the field in the Dhaka Premier League on Monday after serving the ban.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board said in a statement that Nasir has fulfilled all the conditions of the ICC and duly served the entire ban period. As a result, he can participate in official cricket again. Nasir was accused of corruption while playing in the T10 League in Abu Dhabi in 2021. The ICC announced the final verdict against him in January 2024. He was given a two-year ban, of which six months were suspended. The ban was effective from September 2023. As a result, he could not participate in any cricketing activities for about one and a half years.

As part of the punishment, Nasir also had to attend a mandatory anti-corruption education session. The BCB and ICC cleared him to return to cricket after he fulfilled all the conditions. He proved that he is still focused and ready to play in the first match after the ban. He bowled the first ball in the match against Gazi Group Cricketers for Rupganj Tigers in the Dhaka Premier League. He bowled 10 overs with off-spin and took 1 important wicket for just 31 runs.

Nasir’s return to cricket has created a wave of joy among many fans. The once reliable all-rounder is looking to prove his ability by returning to domestic cricket. Although the path to returning to the national team is not easy, if he plays consistently well in the domestic league, he can come into the discussion again. Cricket analysts believe that this moment of returning to the field is a new beginning for Nasir.
