Delhi Capitals won the 66th match of the 2025 IPL, defeating Punjab Kings by 6 wickets. The match was held at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur. Delhi won the toss and elected to bowl first. Punjab batted first and scored 206 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. Although the start was not good, as Priyansh Arya returned for just 6 runs. However, Prabhsimran, Josh Inglis and captain Shreyas Iyer gave a good start.
Josh Inglis played a devastating innings of 32 runs in just 12 balls, which included 3 fours and 2 sixes. Prabhsimran scored 28 runs in 18 balls. Iyer then played a great innings, scoring 53 runs in 34 balls to take the team ahead. Nehal Wadhera, Shashank Singh, and Marcus Stoinis added some runs in the middle, but the regular fall of wickets did not stop. Stoinis was unbeaten, scoring 44 runs off just 16 balls, which included 3 fours and 4 sixes. In the end, Harpreet Brar remained unbeaten on 7 runs off 2 balls.
Mustafizur Rahman was the best performer among Delhi bowlers. He took 3 wickets for just 33 runs in 4 overs. Vipraj Nigam also took 2 important wickets. Kuldeep Yadav took 2 more wickets. Mukesh Kumar and Mohit Sharma were a bit expensive among the rest of the bowlers. Punjab scored 60 runs in the powerplay, which was a good start. But they lost some rhythm in the middle overs.
Delhi Capitals came out to bat with a target of 207 runs. KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis came out to open. Both started well, especially Rahul, who played a key role by scoring 35 runs off 21 balls. Faf then scored 23 runs off 15 balls. Karun Nair then scored 44 runs off 27 balls, which was valuable for the team. From there, Sediqullah Atal scored 22 runs off 16 balls. Marco Jansen and Praveen Dubey took 1 wicket each. However, Azmatullah and Arshdeep were not very effective, especially since Azmatullah gave away 46 runs in 4 overs. Delhi scored 61 runs in the powerplay, which helped them chase down their target.
