Divaldo Franco, one of Brazil’s most revered spiritual leaders, died in Salvador on Tuesday, May 13, at the age of 98. He had been battling bladder cancer for a long time. He had been in multiple organ failure at the time of his death. Divaldo died at 9:45 p.m. at his home, the headquarters of Mansรฃo do Caminho, where he was receiving care under the home care service.

Last Rites And Funeral

A public vigil will be held at the Mansรฃo do Caminho Sports Hall on May 14 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. to pay homage to Divaldo Franco. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no procession or open casket. His burial will take place on May 15 at 10 a.m. at the Bosque da Paz cemetery.

The Beginning And Debut Of Divaldo Franco’s Life

Divaldo Franco was born on May 5, 1927 in the city of Feira de Santana. He was the youngest of 12 siblings. He demonstrated his mediumship as a child, although his family misunderstood him as ‘demonic’ at the time. Later, a female medium identified his mediumship, and proper treatment began.

Monsรฃo Do Camino: His Humanitarian Contribution

In 1952, he founded Monsรฃo do Camino in the Pau da Lima region of Salvador. It was an institution for education and shelter for children. Later, he added schools, vocational training centers, health care, and various social welfare activities. Today, it has become a full-fledged social education center, where thousands of children and adolescents receive education and direction in life.

Divaldo Franco wrote more than 250 books, most of which were the result of spiritual writing or psychic writing. The proceeds from the sale of these books and the sale of videos of lectures, seminars, interviews, etc., financed all of Monsรฃo do Camino’s activities.

In 1998, he started a secular movement called โ€˜Vocรช e a Pazโ€™ (You and Peace). It is not a specific religion or political ideology, but rather a message of peace, humanity, and tolerance, held annually in Salvador. Currently, the movement has spread its influence in more than 75 cities in 14 countries around the world.

Cancer Treatment And Treatment

In November 2024, he was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He was hospitalized for 9 days. Then, on December 2, he began treatment with a combination of radiotherapy and light chemotherapy. He received treatment at home. Later, in February, he was hospitalized again due to an infection.

A statement published on Instagram stated that he had recovered and returned home and was receiving care from a home care team.

Divaldo Franco: Father Of 685 Children

He left no biological children. However, he played the role of a father by sheltering and educating about 685 children and adolescents in Monsรฃo do Camino.
