The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached new heights. They defeated the Golden State Warriors 121-110 to advance to the Western Conference Finals. Coach Chris Finch asked the team before the season began, “Did you just go to the conference finals, or are you really that good?” Anthony Edwards answered the question on the field.
The team shot 62.8 percent from the field in the win over Golden State, the third-highest in a series-final game in the shot clock era. They scored 72 points in the paint, the third-highest in the playoffs in the last 25 years.
Minnesota, which lost to the Denver Nuggets three games short of the finals last year, is even more confident this time. “Last year, everyone praised us for beating Denver, but then we lost. This time, we grew.” Gober himself gave a great performance with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 8-for-9 shooting.
Anthony Edwards had a career-high 12 assists and three blocks in the playoffs with 22 points in the game. Coach Finch believes his passing set the team in motion early in the game. The entire team had 36 assists, which is the most in the Timberwolves’ history in the playoffs.

Edwards is now the second player in Timberwolves history to surpass 1,000 points in the playoffs, after Kevin Garnett. Although everyone is celebrating, Edwards says, “This is just the beginning. Nothing has been won yet.”
McDaniels said they are in a good place physically and mentally because they finished a round earlier. The next series starts in three days, and the opponents will be either the Oklahoma City Thunder or the Denver Nuggets. They will be underdogs against either team.
DiVincenzo said, “Nobody thought we could beat the Lakers or the Warriors. So we knew no one would think we were the favorites, it didn’t matter to us.”
Finally, Conley said, “Last season, Edwards said we would get a chance together again. I trusted his belief then. Today, that came true.”
