Bangladesh DB Police has arrested popular (The Ajaira LTD) YouTuber Prottoy Heron and his two friends for allegedly making videos promoting international gambling sites between videos and dramas.
Nowadays, many content creators using various social media including YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook are going viral overnight and getting millions of views. As a result, various gambling sites are spreading their promotional ads targeting them.
And all these popular content creators are advertising gambling sites in between their video content without realizing it to earn extra big money.
In the meantime, popular YouTuber Prottoy Heron and his two friends have been arrested in Bangladesh under the Digital Security Act. After this, the detective police say that teenagers and young people are getting addicted to gambling as a result of these advertisements.
The police have already filed a case against them at Ramna police station. The YouTubers of The Ajaira LTD have been under police surveillance for a long time. Later they were arrested based on that case.
These gambling ads were broadcast on Prottoy’s YouTube channel called The Ajaira LTD. They currently have more than four and a half million subscribers on this channel!
According to multiple media reports in Bangladesh, the advertisements were spread in videos of popular YouTubers in Dhaka through Indian agents.
Their web series also promoted several illegal gambling sites including 1XBET, Crixus, Crickex, Babu88, and the actors’ dialogues. For this, YouTubers used to get 70 taka to 1 lakh taka per episode.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohammad Tarek Bin Rashid of Cyber and Special Crime Division (North) of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police said that they have a web series called Bodmaish Polapain.
And they advertise gambling in different slots in each episode of this series. After their arrest, I learned that online gamblers operate from outside the country. Advertises through Indian agents targeting popular YouTubers in the country.
Earlier in Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan created a Controversy by publishing a picture of him working with a gambling or betting-based news portal on his social media platform. Later, however, he came out of this agreement.
