Finally, India Won 1st T20 World Cup 2021 Match Against Afghanistan. After Losing to Pakistan and New Zealand, Team India kept their hopes of reaching the semifinals alive by winning the third match.

India vs Afghanistan match started in the 33rd match of T20 World Cup 2021 on 03 November. The Afghanistan cricket team won the toss and was decided to field first. As a result, the Indian team has to bat first.

When it came to batting, India’s batsmen lost 2 wickets in 20 overs and gave a target of 210 runs. However, learning from the previous match, this time Rohit and Rahul batted well in the opening.

In the last two matches, India could not collect large runs as the opening pair did not perform well. As a result, they lost to Pakistan and New Zealand in a very bad way and became uncertain about the semi-final match.

Against Afghanistan, KL Rahul scored 69 off 48 balls, Rohit Sharma 74 off 47 balls, Rishabh Pant 27 off 13 balls, and Hardik Pandya 35 off 13 balls.

As a result of 210 runs, almost 99% of the matches were in India’s possession. Moreover, it was almost impossible for Afghanistan to cross the 210-run target. The reason is that the bowling line of this match was better than the last match of India.

It was challenging for the Afghans to cross the 210-run target. Meanwhile, Mohammad Shahzad and Hazratullah Zazai lost their wickets and the Afghans came under pressure.

Only Karim Janat has scored 42 and Mohammad Nabi 35 against India. The rest of Afghanistan’s batsmen could not score above 20.

In the end, Afghanistan lost 7 wickets for 144 runs in 20 overs and lost to India by 66 runs. Maybe 160 or 170 targets could have won the match for Afghanistan.

However, after winning this match, India has raised hopes of playing in the semi-finals. The next two matches are against Namibia and Scotland, but the equation means the matches will be in India’s favor.

However, if India loses one of the next two matches, it will be eliminated from the semi-finals. Besides, New Zealand has two matches and Afghanistan has one.

If New Zealand wins both, they will qualify for the semifinals with 8 points. However, New Zealand must lose a match if India is to reach the semifinals.

If Afghanistan wins the next match, then India can get a chance to reach the semifinals based on the run rate. However, for this, Namibia and Scotland must lose the remaining two matches with a good run rate.
