The much-awaited ODI and T20 series between India and Bangladesh, scheduled to be held in August 2025, is in danger of being cancelled. The recent terrorist attack in the Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir has created political unrest in India, which may affect the series. The Indian men’s national cricket team’s tour of Bangladesh has become uncertain, reported the Times of India.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) recently released the schedule for the series. According to the schedule, the two countries are scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20 matches. It was supposed to take place immediately after India’s England series. But the tour may be postponed or canceled due to the current political situation.
A source close to the Times of India said, “Although this series is part of the ICC calendar, nothing is final yet. They may not tour Bangladesh due to the current situation in India.”
It is learned that the tour is directly at risk due to terrorism. The way the unrest that has arisen in Kashmir and the allegations of Pakistan’s involvement have been raised, the Indian team is considering withdrawing from the tour. Even the Indian Cricket Board has not yet taken any official decision on this matter, but discussions are underway considering the security situation.
Meanwhile, the Asia Cup to be held in September 2025 is also uncertain for the same reason. This time, the Asia Cup is planned to be organized in the T20 format, so that the teams can prepare before the T20 World Cup to be held in early 2026.

However, India and Pakistan have refused to play in each other’s countries in the Asia Cup. As a result, plans have been made to organize the tournament at a neutral venue. Although the venue has not been finalized yet, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates are considered the most likely hosts.
If the Bangladesh vs. India series is canceled, it will bring a disappointing message not only for the cricket fans of the two countries, but also for the entire cricket world. Because the Indian team has not played a full bilateral series in Bangladesh for a long time and the interest of the audience was high for this series.
As per the probable schedule of the tour, the ODIs will be played on August 17, 20 and 23 and the T20Is on August 26, 29 and 31. The matches were scheduled to be held in Mirpur and Chittagong.
The cancellation or postponement of the series depends on the final decision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. For now, everything depends on the subsequent security situation and political developments.
