F-7 Training Aircraft Crashes: Sensational Accident In Uttara Diabari

Another fatal accident occurred in the capital’s Uttara area. On Monday (July 21) afternoon, an F-7 BGI model training fighter jet of the Bangladesh Air Force crashed into a building of Milestone School and College located in the Diabari area. The plane, which took off at 1:06 pm, lost control and crashed into the college premises within a short time. A commotion spread at the scene immediately, with ordinary people, security forces, and firefighters rushing to the scene.

A senior official of Shahjalal International Airport confirmed the news of the accident. However, he could not immediately provide the condition of the pilot or the specific cause of the accident. ISPR Assistant Director Rashedul Alam Khan said that it was a training aircraft and it crashed in the sky of Uttara.

The Fire Service control room reported that three units rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the news of the accident at 1:18 pm. Later, five more units, i.e., a total of eight units from Uttara, Tongi, Mirpur, Kurmitola, Purbacha, and Pallabi fire stations, joined in. They are working to control the fire.

A student of Milestone College said, โ€œThe plane fell directly into the college premises. We heard a loud noise and saw smoke coming out.โ€ It was not immediately known if anyone was seriously injured as the students were in the classroom at the time of the accident, but locals say there is a possibility of casualties.

The video of the incident has already gone viral on social media, which has created more panic among the public. According to police sources, Deputy Police Commissioner of Uttara Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Mohidul Islam, is on his way to the spot and is trying to collect detailed information.

The F-7 BGI is a Chinese-made jet fighter, which is used by the Bangladesh Air Force for training purposes. A board is expected to be formed to investigate the cause of the accident. However, it is initially believed that the accident occurred due to a mechanical fault or loss of control shortly after takeoff.

Such accidents remind us once again how important regular inspections and safety measures are for training aircraft. The administration and the defense forces need to play a more active role to ensure the safety of the general public and students.
