The first match of the 3-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh was played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on 28 May 2025. Pakistan’s batting dominance and bowling storm shattered Bangladesh’s batting lineup. With the brilliant performance of Shadab Khan and Hasan Ali, Pakistan won a big 37-run victory and took a 1-0 lead in the series.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. Although the start was slow, the pace of scoring runs increased in the middle overs. In particular, Shadab Khan’s innings of 48 runs off 25 balls took Pakistan to a challenging score of 201 runs. Pakistan finally scored 201 runs for 7 wickets.
Although Bangladesh started well, the consistency could not be maintained. Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim started off with a storm and hit two huge sixes. But in the next over, he was bowled by a slow ball from Hasan Ali. After that, the pair of Liton Das and Hridoy scored some runs, but Bangladesh collapsed under the pressure of the run rate. Hridoy’s slow batting (23 off 30 balls) put pressure on the team.
In the middle, Jaker Ali’s innings of 36 off 21 balls raised some hopes, but it was not enough. In the end, Hasan Ali reached the first five-wicket milestone of his T20 career, and Bangladesh were all out for 164 in 19.2 overs.
Hasan Ali was excellent among the Pakistani bowlers, taking 5 wickets for just 30 runs in 3.2 overs. Shadab Khan was the man of the match for taking 2 wickets, as well as a valuable innings of 48 runs and two great catches. Faheem Ashraf, Khushdil Shah, and Salman Ali Agha took one wicket each.
Bangladesh’s batting confidence collapsed again in the middle order. There were questions about replacing Mahedi Hasan with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, as Miraz is in relatively good form in both batting and bowling.
This match holds the record for the highest number of runs (365) in a T20I match between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
