Early Life And Becoming A Guerrilla Fighter
José Mujica was born on May 20, 1935. His father was a one-time farmer and businessman who later went bankrupt. Mujica’s life began in hardship after losing his father at a young age. He became politically aware in his teens and later joined the famous revolutionary organization of Uruguay, the Tupamaros.
The Tupamaros were a guerrilla organization that took up arms against state discrimination and repression.
