Among the movies released on Eid this year, Shakib Khan’s ‘Borbaad’ is the most talked about. The movie sold 274.3 million taka of tickets in the first seven days of its release, according to the production company Real Energy Production. With such success, ‘Borbaad’ has reached the one-month ticket sales figure of Shakib’s previous movie ‘Priyatama’ in just seven days. The movie is currently running in about 65 shows in Cineplexes and multiplexes. It is also doing good business in 112 single screens in the country. Many believe that the movie business can continue until the upcoming Eid al-Adha.
Borbaad was produced by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy. It stars Idhika Pal opposite Shakib Khan. It also stars Misa Sawdagar, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Jisshu Sengupta, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Shyam Bhattacharya, and Nusrat Jahan, who performed a special item song. It has been learnt that the film will be released in the US, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia this month.
However, Shakib Khan’s other Eid release, ‘Antaratma,’ could not win the hearts of the audience in the same way. It was removed from the theatres after just two days. It is now not showing in Star Cineplex. Although the film was released in 21 theatres, it is safe to say that the audience did not respond. As a result, it is proven that the saying ‘movies are made in Shakib’s name’ is no longer so effective. Good story, production, and festive atmosphere – all of them make the film work.
It is not necessary to mention the other films released this Eid. Afran Nisho and Tama Mirza’s ‘Daagi’ has received a good response in multiplexes. Since its release, the cineplexes have been going housefull. This film is currently being screened in 16 theatres. It is in second place. It is directed by Shihab Shaheen and has Sunerah Binte Kamal in an important role.

Siam Ahmed and Shabnam Bubly’s ‘Jongli’ is in third place. It attracted the attention of the audience even though it was released in only 11 theaters. 18 shows are being held every day, and all the shows were housefull for the first six days. The film, directed by M Rahim, also stars Prarthana Fardin Dighi.
‘Chakkar 302’ starring Mosharraf Karim is basically a psychological thriller. Directed by Sharaf Ahmed Jibon, this film, produced with government funding, has been released only in multiplexes. The audience has created interest due to its diverse story, and according to critics, it can run for a long time.
Jinn 3 is very behind in terms of release. It has been released in only two multiplexes. As a result, it can be called a flop in the beginning. Although one of the songs of the film Kanya went viral before its release, the main film has failed to attract an audience. It is directed by Kamruzzaman Roman and stars Abdun Noor Sajal and Nusrat Faria.
Overall, Shakib Khan and Idhika Pal’s ‘Borbaad’ is leading the way this Eid. However, other movies have also managed to win the hearts of the audience from their respective places. While ‘Daagi’ and ‘Jongli’ are in a good position in the Eid movie competition, ‘Antaratma’ and ‘Jinn-3’ are far behind in the audience popularity list. This picture shows that now it is no longer just about stars, but movies depend on content, production, and promotion.
